"San Jose is not just a city, but a state of mind. We’re diverse, innovative and are fiercely proud of our neighborhoods and city. Our visual identity should be urban, forward thinking and rooted in a healthy amount of hustle. The imagery needs to reflect that we are as comfortable innovating around autonomous vehicles as we are coming up with the next great fish taco."

"Paletas are an iconic childhood memory growing up in this community. Whether you’re sad or happy, during good times and bad, until we can come together and take ownership, invest, and protect our communities, we can always count on a paleta to eat our problems away." --Quynh-Mai Nguyen, Social Artist, Silicon Valley DeBug

"When we were asked to design something that represented San Jose, we wanted to go back to the roots of what San Jose was before it became Silicon Valley. We came across "Valley of the Heart's Delight" and thought it was such a beautiful way to describe the old San Jose, especially since farms and fruit trees is what I remember seeing a lot of while growing up here. We decided to take that phrase and put it hand written script and then we masked the photo into the script to add texture." --Michelle Locquiao of Cukui

"For San Jose residents, I want them to come to the Screenprint Showdown and experience San Jose in a whole new way. The logos collected through our graphic design contest will help locals re-imagine their city. For the tourist who will be in town for the Super Bowl, I want this to be a coming-out party for a newly rebranded San Jose."
